I apologize for the silence, but I was on holiday for the past two weeks. It was a much-needed break to recharge and enjoy some time under the sun with friends and family!
Now, let's move on to today's agenda: a smol tweet and an enlightening article about the (hellish) development of Diablo IV.

It's not exactly an informative tweet, but more of a bragging moment because I'm incredibly pleased with it!
I had the talented artist XENOTRIP create an artwork inspired by my previous profile picture, using their black & white cyberpunk-like art style. I absolutely adore the outcome.
Went from a tiny sorceress to a Technomancer., a big “started from the bottom, now we here” moment.

Yet another Diablo article for you today! Can you sense how invested I am in this game?
Esquire has published an outstanding piece that delves deep into the tumultuous development of Diablo IV. It covers several key points:
Diablo IV was unveiled at BlizzCon 2019 and garnered a positive response from fans.
Diablo IV's development (and the whole company - hi WoW team!) was plagued by internal conflicts, corporate issues, and allegations of harassment and discrimination. The original leaders were dismissed due to indecisive leadership and script-related problems. The team also faced challenges like insensitive script elements and a lack of diversity.
The game's art director, John Mueller, strived for a darker tone and drew inspiration from medieval paintings and landscape artists. This was one of the main learnings following the “failure” of Diablo III (which still had more than 35m units sold by 2015 lol)
Following a lawsuit against Activision Blizzard and employee protests, steps were taken to address the cultural issues. However, the team still grappled with attrition and a leadership vacuum.
A truly fascinating read.
