My good (internet) friend Teng/0xPrismatic, attended Token2049 in Singapore and has since shared some takeaways from the event, market trends, and his interactions with industry members.
Although I wasn't present at the event, I agree with many of his observations. I'm particularly aligned with his views on the market participants’ PTSD and the prevailing perceptions about NFTs.
From a personal standpoint, I've experienced some PTSD stemming from the Luna/3AC/FTX sagas, and the gamefi/NFT markets. While I maintain a (very) cautiously bullish stance, I firmly believe that current applications fall short of potential. It will require time to develop compelling use cases and, most importantly, to rebuild trust… (one last flush?)
1 article/video to discover something new, maybe
It's been over a decade since "Get Jinxed" was unveiled by the talented teams at Fortiche and Riot Games. Their collaboration led to a plethora of outstanding videos, with "Arcane" standing out as a masterpiece that engaged people who weren’t even into LoL, or gaming in general.
I vividly recall the gamification/events surrounding Jinx's introduction, including her vandalization of Vi's page on the official website. As an ex-ADC main (peaked Platinum 3 season 6!), and like everyone else, I was drawn to Jinx not just because of her gameplay mechanics, but also her distinctive personality and solid one-liners. For extra info, I invite you to read this article: ORIGINS Jinx.
This video provides a glimpse into the creative process behind this iconic production and sheds light on Fortiche's inspirations/process. While Riot Games has consistently showcased incredible skills in content creation and storytelling around their characters and events, I genuinely believe that "Get Jinxed" was the event that launched Riot into a new era of entertainment, setting the stage for a series of bangers, not only for character reveals, but also “Worlds” yearly songs, and expanding their universe (KDA, Star Guardian, etc).
I can talk about Riot/LoL for hours… so let’s stop here for now :).
