The new console boasts a 7.9-inch HDR-enabled display with 120Hz and VRR support, offering up to 4K60 docked output and 1080p120 handheld gameplay. While DLSS and ray tracing are confirmed as supported, they were notably absent from the presentation footage, suggesting limited early adoption.
On the software front, Nintendo is launching "Switch 2 Editions" of key games alongside a strong lineup of new titles, including Donkey Kong Bananza and The Duskbloods. GameCube support is also officially coming to Switch Online, exclusive to Switch 2, with classics like Wind Waker and F-Zero GX included. Nintendo delays Switch 2 pre-order date in the U.S. to assess impact of Trump's Tariffs. IGN
Nintendo has delayed U.S. pre-orders for the Switch 2, originally set for April 9, citing concerns over Trump’s newly imposed tariffs and evolving market conditions. While the global launch date of June 5, 2025, remains unchanged, the move raises concerns about potential price hikes, especially given the already controversial $449.99 base price and $79.99 cost for Mario Kart World. The delay applies only to the U.S.; pre-orders in other regions, like the UK, are unaffected.
The decision comes amid rising tensions between the U.S. and China, with reciprocal tariffs contributing to economic instability and likely price increases across consumer tech. Analysts warn that Nintendo’s shift of manufacturing to Vietnam and Japan to dodge previous tariffs may backfire, as those countries are now also subject to high U.S. import taxes. With inflation looming and backlash growing, Nintendo’s next pricing move is being closely watched.
