Today we talk about video games- the best thing since cheezy crust pizza! A tweet from ZhugeEX talking about console exclusives, and a piece from Bloomberg highlighting the massive changes happening at Square Enix.

Your favorite dad jokes purveyor, Daniel, is back with a great tweet discussing the Japanese market and its relationship with consoles/exclusives. He also did a longer interview for IGN (titled “Xbox Isn't The Only One Rethinking Console Exclusives”), which you can read here. Insightful, especially given the perpetual warring between all factions and the state in which the gaming industry finds itself—or rather, has cornered itself.
He is one of my favorite analysts in gaming and also a dear friend—I highly recommend following him.

As reported by Takashi Mochizuki on Bloomberg, Square Enix is going through a big reshuffle. Please note that Japanese companies often do a reshuffle at the beginning of the new Fiscal Year/April 1st. However, this one seems larger than usual.
You can access freely the article through my link, but here is a TLDR:
Yu Miyake, the top producer of Square Enix's Dragon Quest franchise, is stepping down to lead the company's smartphone games division amid a larger reorganization aimed at revamping its game development process.
The reorganization, under new President Takashi Kiryu, focuses on reversing declining sales by relying less on external resources and more on in-house AAA games.
Shares of Square Enix rose following the announcement of the reorganization.
Yosuke Saito, known for his work on the NieR series, is considered a strong candidate to take over Dragon Quest production.
The changes are part of Kiryu's (SE’s CEO) efforts to streamline game production and reduce the influence of producers, with a new team of creators promoted to executive roles.
